According to a newspaper report, standing up from time to time to ‘potter around’ is as good for fitness as a trip to the gym. This is a matter of great relief to those of us who like to take a break from writing every hour or so and have no intention of going near a running machine. (Note to self: effects of pottering may be negated by proximity to biscuit tin.)
On a slightly different note, I’ve been giving a ‘workout’ to Landscape prior to submitting to the Front List, as well as to those agents I haven’t yet tried. (Yes, there are some!) I’ve done very little rewriting, but have moved some things around and dispensed with a few scenes which suddenly look de trop. I’m also being extra diligent in removing those passages I’ve always admired but which may not actually be contributing to events. (You know the kind I mean? We all have them!)
The result is should be ‘leaner and fitter’ novel that’s easier to sell. So, stand by for a new ‘hook’ (line? sinker?) and a sharper plot summary all of which will be going off to some lucky agent soon. The changes will also be reflected on this site, so keep your eyes on the Home Page!
