For a writer of fiction, is blogging a warm-up activity or a distraction? It could of course be either, and sometimes both. Add a bit of (necessary?) surfing to the blogging effort, and distraction is soon the name of the game.
For me, it’s proving difficult to get back to any kind of writing after a lay-off dictated by health issues and more recently the intrusion of a career decision At my age? Yes, these things can happen, though sadly the career in question isn’t writing. Though who knows? Maybe when one window opens another might do too.
The good news is that while I’ve been away from the keyboard I’ve been mulling over a short story idea, so time to get that first draft down and on its way to respectability.
Looks like this was a warm-up after all.
