A special welcome today to anyone arriving via the Strictly Writing blog where I am lucky enough to be guest blogger. Apologies too to any more regular visitor who high tails it over there to discover that the SW piece looks a bit familiar. Yes, you’re right, a shorter version of it did appear here a while ago!
Submitting to the Strictly Writing team ( a team blog, such a good idea!) was part of a plan to send out more work while I am ‘between novels.’ So far it’s paying off as I have just discovered that Mouse Years, a short story which failed to find favour in the Bristol Prize or Winchester Conference did get shortlisted a few weeks ago for the Exeter Writers’ Circle competition, and so even if I describe myself on SW as ‘glutton for writing punishment’ (ouch! ) today I can remind myself that even for someone without a publishing contract, writing is its own reward (well isn’t it?) and any audience appreciation is simply icing on the cake!
If you’re new here, do take a look around. Feedback on the site, or any of the writing you can find here, really is valued.
(No, I didn’t bake the cake, but it’s mouth watering scrumminess was captured by Quintanaroo on Flickr. )
