In my pre-school years, I always believed that the girl who fell down the rabbit hole and the story of her adventures was called Alison Wonderland, and I remember a sense of disappointment when I discovered that Alice wasn’t actually my namesake.
Later, of course, I read the story and its sequel for myself and forgot that connection I had felt with Alice. Then, a few days ago I picked up a Tweet about a book called Alison Wonderland by Helen Smith. I hurried over to her blog where she was running a free book draw, and lo, I am one of the lucky winnners. I must say I can’t wait for the book to arrive which from the reviews sounds most intriguing and Alison maybe even a candidate for our next book group meeting (on the theme of humour).
All in all it feels like a lucky week, and so I am off to enter another competition for a foxy little book by Linda Leatherbarrow called Between the Lines.
I reckon I’m a dead cert to win it!
Lovely how little bits of your past pop up and twinkle at you. Congrats on winning the book, I hope you enjoy it!
