October and November are turning out to be very busy months, first of all with preparations for the Clevedon Celebration of the Book, and soon after that, the launch of Skeins, a Linen Press short story anthology which is out now.
I’ve been posting madly about everything Just Write Bristol are up to at Clevedon, but for us the most exciting thing is the launch of a new anthology called Quite Weird, a selection of quirky, amusing or weird short stories and flash fiction.

Quite Weird will also be the very first book to be published by our new imprint Malago Press, set up for writers in our group to publish quality fiction which might not otherwise find a way to market. How this might develop is yet to be seen, but we can be sure that this slim volume is just the beginning!
Join us for the launch of Quite Weird on the evening of November 2nd
and contact us* by Saturday at mid-day to bag a 5 minute Open Mic slot
As for Skeins, I’m delighted to be in this collection from my publisher Linen Press which contains twenty-four stories, all with feminist themes, from an impressive line-up of women writers.

The book will be launched around the country, beginning in Sheffield on Oct 30th and in Bristol on November 13th at 7pm at the Robin Hood on St Michaels Hill. I’m looking forward to meeting the six local authors who are taking part and hearing the readings from the collection.
It should be a great evening and entry it’s free! please register on Eventbrite if you plan to come.

*At Clevedon we’ll have a limited number of open mic slots at our Quite Weird evening launch.
If you would like to take part please find the Just Write Bristol/Quite Weird table in the Book and Makers Market by 4 pm and add your name to the list.
Problems getting there in time? Email justwritebristol[at]gmail.com with the title and one-line description of what you would like to read.
The session begins at 8.15 in the festival bar. Please be on time so that we can organise the line-up!

Hi Ali,
I think I will bow out of speaking at the Clevedon evening for various reasons that I can explain on Thursday. I will get to the hall as early as possible and leave before it gets dark.
