Despite last week’s bad mood, I thoroughly enjoyed an hour or two of glitz and glamour (if not actual stardom) when the East Bristol Chorus took to the stage for our Christmas Concert. As far as I know it didn’t even make the local press, so here’s an impressionistic view of the proceedings at Emersons Green Village Hall as we clutched our music and followed our leader’s instructions to sing with confidence. I did my best, but it got a bit tricky when the backing track took a jump, leaving most of us mouthing like stranded fish! Luckily the audience were enjoying themselves too much to notice the hiatus. We got a some hearty applause and plenty of audience participation in our rip-roaring finale, so I think ‘artisitic impression’ won over technical merit. Last Choir Standing this was not, but thanks to our leader, Mark, it really was great fun.
Staying local, my hairdresser has been having a closer and riskier brush (oops!) with fame by offering himself up as a contestant in Channel 4’s Come Dine with Me. You’ll guess from this that Craig is not like other hairdressers I have known and if we do talk about our holidays, his always sound a lot more interesting than mine! Sadly, when I popped in for my pre-Christmas trim he was not too happy with his dining experience, claiming the filming was erratic and the outcome clearly rigged. Such, I suspect, is how it is with ‘reality’ T.V. Still, I may sneak a look in January to see how his sushi really turned out!
So it’s back to normal life for me, and a Happy Christmas to Mark and Craig, the younger men in my life!
